My name is Melanie Nera and I'm a second year student at Cal Poly. I'm currently studying in the Orfalea College of Business. As much as I like it here in San Luis Obispo, I love it more in my hometown of Vallejo, California.
All through high school, I danced Polynesian. I danced traditional dances from the Polynesian Islands of Hawai'i, Tahiti, Tonga, and New Zealand. The group I danced with was Ohana O' Lokomai ka'i. When I graduated from high school, however, I had to quit because I moved here to attend college. Although I don't dance anymore, it's still a big part of my life and I hope to find a group I can dance with here in the central coast.
Aside from Dancing, my other hobbies include reading, watching television, shopping, and spending time with my family and friends. My family and I are very close. Although there are a lot of us, we still gather together almost every Saturday evening for a BBQ dinner. This is what I seemed to miss the most from being away from home.
